Wow! These students of mine sure worked hard this week! We have finished our personal narrative unit and are now  learning to analyze writing prompts. In math we are making great progress in place value! Students will have a quiz on Monday and then we will be learning to round on a vertical number line.
We are at the end of our electricity investigation. Students will have a quiz on Tuesday. Electricity vocabulary went home today.

This afternoon we started our spooky house STEM challenge and I was so impressed with the creativity the students are showing! We are going to finish the STEM activity on Monday but here are some pictures of our progress so far!

We have been so busy this first month of 4th grade! We started the year off with some fun team building STEM activities.

We have started our first unit in math focused on place value. In writing we are learning to write personal narratives using good hooks and dialogue. In reading we have been focusing on learning the different book genres. Students participated in a "Book Tasting" which allowed them to check out books in a variety of genres. In Science students are learning about energy. Ask your child what is needed to light a bulb! In Social Studies students have been exploring the different social sciences. They will soon begin learning the regions of the United States. I'm so impressed at how hard the students have been working! We have our field trip to Lowell Mills this Friday!

Hello families!

How quickly time has been passing! Students have been working very hard. This week we have been reviewing ELA strategies. My goal was to make review fun and engaging. Students played task cards with games like Jenga and Chutes and Ladders. We also played review activities using Quizlet Live, Kahoot!,  and Quizizz. Ask you child which was their favorite!

In math, we spend some of our mornings learning to draw and measure angles. Our later math block is spent working with fractions.

We have many fun events planned for the next several weeks so I'll be sure to keep the classroom website updated with information and photos!
